Squeaking wheel

Ok, something is squeaking and it's really ticking me off. Two weeks ago I had the whole front end apart while I replaced the tranny, put everything back together. I noticed a quiet squeak coming from the front drivers side wheel. I was hoping it would go away on it's own. Well now it's really bad, and it's embarassing! The squeak goes away when I apply the brakes. I let go and it's back, in gear and in neutral. I did not replace any part of the braking system, but before I took it apart there was no noise at all. Any thoughts?

Pull the wheel off and check to see if you have any garbage inbetween the rotor and pads. Then see if there are the wear clips on the pads. You might have bent them in,if they touch the rotor it makes a squeeking noise, all u need to do is bend it away from the rotor

check the pads.......they're probably bad

and check the splash shield too

I had something similiar happen when my MTX swap was finished but it was in the upper strut mount area where the squeaking got real bad now even though I never took it apart when I did the MTX hmmm...

About your brakes it defitnaly sounds like some debris fell right between the pad and rotor.

Ya, i'm thinking it's some type of debris or something. The pads had plenty of meat left on them, and the rotors were not real bad so i left them alone.
