Suspension/steering needs lubing badly so I need some advice. If I remember correctly, I got an aftermarket tie-rod on the port side years ago that has a grease fitting. Local shop says "nothing seems wrong" but the guy must have been deaf cause it sounds like every bit of grease is gone. I'd like to be able to grease it all myself every couple years or so, but I know a few parts have to be replaced with ones that have fittings before that can happen.

Any ideas?

where you located?

buy parts like the outer tie rods and balljoints with grease fittings? my best idea

if your really nifty you can install grease fittings into parts that don't have them. you just have to know how to tap good and when to stop drilling

I'd grease them more then every couple of years though. i'd I use a decent quality synthetic grease if I really wanted to do it top notch.

if a shop can't find squeek noises like that though they aren't too good...

sometimes it can be a couple different parts squeeking too

I just had a 96ish crown victoria in. So many squeeks it wasn't funny, one inner tie rod, one outer, one upper ball joint, one inner.....

even his front shock bushings made noise

I can always tell an old run down Ford driving down the street or manuevering in a parking lot. Thankfully taruii don't seem to suffer this fate as much as ranger/expedition/explorer/f-150/crown vic/mustang

I'd find out what is doing the squeeking first of all.
Like Todd said any decent shop should be able to find the noise.

I'm located in Melbourne (Suntree) but I head down to South Miami once or twice a year.

I guess I'll just try a different shop. If I can get ahold of Carlos in Palm Bay, he might be willing to give the tapping idea a try. The way I see it, if he's good enough to weld cams, he'll have no problem doing this.
