Speedometer fluctuates

I noticed that occasionally my speedometer, especially around 80 mph, bobs up and down. Not all the time but sometimes. What's happening? Thanks

most likely cause is a cable that is binding and needs lubed/replaced.

How does one lubricate the speedometer cable? Does it have to be disassembled?

No, just unscrew it from back of gage cluster, get some speedometer cable spray **** with the thin red nozzle. Insert the nozzle into the cable jacket, right up against the twisted wire core. Clamp your fingers around everything to kind of make a seal so that when you hit the spray, it sort of forces the **** down into the housing. It's messy and you waste a lot so wrap a rag around your hand holding the cable to catch all of the mess.

could this also cause a speedo to randomly go from around 65 to around 100 for a moment? mine does this occasionally. freaked me out first time as i was moving at a pretty good speed and looked down to see my speedo say i was doing 110.. then it went back to 70 whew.

Ok, I'm not familiar with how the speedometer gets its info on those. If it's mechanical just do as I mentioned above with the ****.
