I hear people on here talkimg about putting in a colder gapped plug. What do you all recommend. My sho is a 2010 with ok miles. Not sure when plugs were last changed. Ive only had the car 2 months. Pulled a couple of the plugs out and they are a lil black. Car has a slight misfire so I wanna start here

Black usually would be oil or too much fuel. I would try to correct the issue first. Possible valve cover or spark plug well leak. How many miles, and maintenance history? Tuned? Checked codes?

If you have wet oil on the plugs it's most likely head gasket if it's dry then rich

The earlier ones had different plugs. I would just get the later plugs motor craft 534s IIRC.

Is there a way to look at data logs to see if your car could benefit from colder plugs I'm running a boostmax in the logs it's maxing out the map sensor so no idea how much boost it's actually doing
Looks like I've got some good timing advanced instead of negative

This is peddle to the floor in sport traction I was pulling .96g when tires started to slide but seems traction control didn't step in

not sure if anything has been done to the car. bought it 2 months ago from local dealer. right now it has 96k miles. no check engine light coming on. plugs are dry black like burnt. not wet. don't know if they were changed before the dealer sold me the car

Just check the electrod you want to look for good meat and if it's flat not jagged or contamination stuck to it other then the rich fuel it seems

These cars run rich in wot but run pretty close to the 14.7 stometric when cruzin

Oh ok. I run 93 octane. I might try some injector cleaner or something first

Pull codes first. Check engine lights are more dire situation warnings. Most issues will not set a CEL. New plugs may help if the gap on the old ones is too big. Get Motorcraft sp534s as suggested earlier. Only fuel system cleaners I recommend are Techron Concentrate Plus and BG44K. But not sure they will help the fuel injectors on these cars. The injectors work under very high pressure, and deposits are stubborn.

Most people have said that they are, to 0.030. Cant be 100% on your set tho :( A feeler gauge should make it easy to check. Not those round discs, they are prone to damaging modern plugs.

Yes even if they are pregapped you still want to look at them when gapping just make sure you aren't hitting the electrode as you pull it apart

Changed my plugs yesterday. These didnt look horrible but put about 150 miles on car yesterday and my sluggishness/misfire issue seems go be gone. See what happens today
