I guess we have this part of the state or at least Cochise county to ourselves. Maybe the Garage Queen could make it to Sierra Vista but it has been raining too much. Let me know if you want to try a drive up to Willcox and I will make sure that I am home. The get together that the group had last October at the track in Tucson was great. Hope they try to have another one and if they do, I will make the drive up there for that.

I'm up for another Southern Arizona meet this winter. I'd take the long way back through all the mining country though, much better "SHO" roads.;)

Just let me know when and I will let everyone use my place as a stopping point if they want. Willcox is right on I-10 and my house is just off of it and very easy to find.

When I lived back in O REE GONE, I was on I-5 comin north and ran across a Datsun/ Nissan club headed north. They looked like they were having a blast.
There where 6 of them and they had their act polished! They used hand signals to communicate to each other and when some Dork would get in between them and cause them grief, They would box him in and then the club guy just in front of the dork would slow down really slow and then everyone in the club would go around him, take off and leave the guy there. I jumped in line with them and at times we cruised at 110-115 for miles. The front guy had a top notch radar and he would signal and we'd slow down just in time to watch the cop come overf the rise and keep on goin. How many SHO's in the Az. club? I'd love to see about 20 SHO's heading one waqy or another on I-10.

Over the years we had about 20 different SHO's but the most at one get together was about 9. We'll plan a Southerly loop road trip soon.

I'm all for driving in a group but not pushing the limits on speed. Seems like these days to many people get upset about groups of cars passing them or just being together on the road and tend to get on their cell phones and call the law about little or no issue. On my way back from Las Vegas this year my good friend and I had an encounter with the Kingman city police over a couple of people that turned us in for driving fast and crazy all the way from Hoover dam. We only passed a few cars during the entire stretch and got boxed in by a couple of SUV's one time. Most of the traffic was running our speed and a little faster than us and we can't even remember having any close calls or cutting in on anyone. It didn't take long for the officer to figure out that two gray haired old guys didn't fit the profile of hot rodders, even though we were both driving Panteras and coming back from a club event. He also must have seen that we were not in any hurry to get anywhere because after we fueled up at the gas station in Kingman, we just hung around the place relaxing with some cool drinks while he was there investigating a traffic accident. His final words to us were, I guess you just passed somebody with a little four cylinder car and they didn't like it.

Yes, you are right 03copperBusa we should do the speed limit so that all the other cars we come across can see how cool Sho's are.
I completely understand what your saying about the others and cell phones.
I remember probably 20 years ago, I watched a stand up comedy act and the guy said" Have you ever noticed that the person driving in front of you and going slower than you is an Idiot or *******? Or that the guy who passes you just a little faster is a freaking Maniac?" Well, I must say I share the same thoughts and catch myself saying those words everytime I'm on I-10.
Funny huh? Don't say you never thought the same thing:)

Sure I think about some of the things I see people do behind the wheel, but not to the point of turning them into the law. The worst thing I ever saw was some woman in a big SUV talking on her cell phone and driving in the left hand lane with another car on her right side and keeping Highway 90 blocked. The problem was that we were behind her in a marked Sheriff's Departement vehicle running with lights and a siren on going to a call and she just took her time in making the pass. Then as we go by, she gives me a dirty look with the phone still up to her ear. I know it is rude to bother someone when they are talking on a cell phone because they could be making some kind of million dollar deal or even talking to the President about a very important matter. Someone elses life could not be as important as all that.

Sounds like there could be a SHO gathering down here in the not to distant future.

I don't think that my garage is that clean although I did start doing some long over due sweeping in it today. If we do a get together at my place in Willcox, I have a lot of parking space. I think we could fit at least 20 cars in the front driveway so, that's one problem we won't have to worry about.

I have had the other car club I belong to over here and even had a bunch of kit Cobras in the front drive. The wife and I like to do these kind of get togethers. We have a few sites up here to see and a good place to get apple pies just down the street from the house. The nice thing about Willcox is the pace is very slow and there is very little traffic. It makes it nice for a cruise around the area and we do have some roads that can lend themselves very well to 150 mph plus speeds if anyone is up to that. Not that I have ever done anything like that.

Of course not!, :)
Sounds like fun, My Sho is built for looks, She's a fun driver but she's not a race car. Very little engine performance mods. just looks and suspension for me. I am excited to see the all the Sho's in the group. Keep me posted.
Is this the only site for AZshoclub? Or is there a web site? Tom messaged me about Aaron, So I sent him some pics.

I don't know of any other SHO activity in Arizona, but the group in Phoenix seems pretty active. I didn't even know there was any interest in these cars until a few years ago when I considered selling mine, but I am glad that other people out there have an interest and are doing things with the car. Ford tends to have a history of building some great cars and then dropping the ball on the marketing and sales part, then dropping the entire car from production. The SHO is a good example of that along with a few others that they had before, one of which I also own. I am going to keep our SHO as original and with as few miles on it as possible. It will be the only thing I own that I haven't messed with and there seems to be some appreciation for an original super low mileage SHO. I have other things lend themselves better to modifications and need some long overdue updating. If we can get something going down here I will take the SHO out of the garage for a little run in the country.

I ran across one here in sierra vista with an automatic '93 only 102k on it one owner for $2400 I thought about going to look at it but I don't know that I could drive an auto. Also, I ran across a red gen 2 at the huachuca city impound (illegals) and it looked very nice, could've had it for a hun or two but when I opened the hood, I was VERY disappointed, had a reg taurus 3.8 YUK!!!

No telling what you will find UDA's driving, but it makes you wonder what happened to the SHO engine in that car. I still think we have this county covered for being the only two SHO guys here. You at least have some car show activity in Sierra Vista. We're lucky to get one put together up here in Willcox once a year. I have a new neighbor that just moved from Phoenix that has a 1956 T-Bird and some other old Fords that wants to get some club activity going around here. Hope he manages to do it and if so, I can have some people to cruise with that I can keep up with.

There's apparently a fairly active T-Bird club in the Phoenix area. Once in a while they show up en masse at the Pavillions car show. I recall being there once with about twenty early T-birds lined up.

I met one of the Phoenix T-Bird group several years ago here in Willcox. A co-worker's sister who owns one was here visiting and she let me drive the old Bird. It was fun considering the age of the vehicle, nothing you would want to drive very fast, but it goes down the road at it's own pace. My neighbor, who is also from Phoenx, that owns a 56 Bird is coming by this evening to look at my other car. Right now he might be looking for some garage space for his Bird because he wants a safe place to put it while his house is being built here. Too bad I would have to put something outside to do it, so there goes some potential rent money.

The value of those pre 1958 T-Birds, if original, is going through the roof like other rare types of cars. Too bad the SHO's arn't getting caught up in all that, but who knows, maybe in another 20 years?
