So what all do we have for performance for these V-8's?

Ok, Ive been around a while, but the Gen 3 is like a totally different car. I know theres enough stuff for the V-6's, but what our our options? Not looking for turbos or anything like that. Just basic boltons. Intakes, exhaust, chips, stuff of that nature. Easy go fast stuff. :type: maybe something to get the SHO into the 14's... :naughty:

Yes, the key is getting the air to flow easier through the engine. So, the first upgrades are K&N filter. I started with the cone but converted to the panel filter and porterized intake. Reason was because I kept throwing an engine code with my temp sensor.

Exhaust mods with low flow mufflers and removing resonator or 3rd cat.
Tranny cooler addition is important.
X-Cal chip helps shifting and increases rpm range. Check with Doug Lewis.
Good luck.

Not much other than underdrive pulleys, chips, and forced induction of some sort. I wouldn't throw a bunch of money at a GenIII looking to get much faster.

You'll spend enough just maintaining it! :nut:

Unfortunatly not alot available for the GenIII. Kind of a MYOPP car.

On a side note...are those Z34 hood vents on your 1993?

WElcome to the dark side.

I agree, porterize the intake. K&N is all of personal opinion. There was a discussion on K&N vs plain paper filter and the consensus was the K&N was not nearly worth the money you spend on it. A lot of those who had one have reverted back to the regular paper filter after some of the findings.

Paul Nimz is having a group buy on phenolic spacers for the intake, may want to see if you can get in on that.

A lot of what peopel HAVE done for the v8 is similar to what people had done to their v6's YEARS ago. Develop as you go and make the products yourself. Read up v8SHO.com, it is the single best information place for the v8.

Cool thanks for the inputs. Yes the vents are from a Lumina Z-34. If the cams arent already welded which I doubt, I will be doing it next weekend. A tranny cooler sounds like a must, so I will plan on doing that soon too. Im not looking to make it muc faster, just maybe to be able to hit 14's.
