Well, as my name states, my SHO is always broken in some way or other. BUT, is takes a million lickins and keeps on tickin somehow.

Here is a general list of what is wrong at the present time.

Motor mounts shot totally, along with the tranny mount im sure.

I get some kind of misfire, or lack of power in the low end sometimes.

Missing vacuum hose to the intake, between the throttle body and the runners.

Coolant leak from ****...I just add water nowadays, well whenever I take off the radiator cap, I have a BROWN residue, and the water itself in there always winds up brown. I've even seen some little brown pieces, either metal, or dirt, haven't FULLY inspected it, either way, it's not good.

Burns oil, pretty bad, and I have new valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals.

O yea, takes quite a bit of turnin over before it fires up. New starter even, and plugs and wires.

Whole suspension is shot, squeaks, rattles, etc etc.

After long driving, or driving, then off car, then on car, etc etc, get a BAD knock, either with the valves or pistons/rods, either way, it's so bad that my car has shut itself down before twice and been smoking. Drive it 20min to an hour later after it's cool and its a ok.

Thats about it, minus other "smaller" things. This thing still runs like **** though when its in a good mood, and man I never want anything other than a SHO. Maybe not MY SHO, but another SHO.

You beat the **** out of it, and don't maintain it.

Never let it go
The key is to get off you butt and do it

I'm no expert, but I'd probably start here. You'll seize the water pump by only running water in it - and metal flakes in any fluid is not the best.

You do NOT want to overheat SHO heads.

Pumps require a lubricant to maintain them. While it won't necessarilly seize, this sure isn't helping things. Anyone that's gotten coolant on them knows that it certainly does have a lubricating property to it. I can never get that stuff off my hands.

Daniel, take the poor attitude comments received from some and just let it roll off your shoulders. Some people take it personally when they see a car not maintained. Then again, some people need to get a life. ;)

That brown color in the cooling system is rust from the iron block. If you are refilling with just tap water then you are trying to **** your engine.

The rust is the block that is no longer solid iron and when in the cooling system, restricts small passages. The water alone allows electrolysis to erode the block and heads from the dissimilar dielectric qualities of the two metals. It also provides no lubrication to the seals of the water pump and will allow them to wear much more quickly.

Missing vacuum hose? No low end power? Misfire? See any cause and effect here?

Knock when hot? Shut itself down? Your engine is trying to tell you something. Really.

Do the maintenance and you won't have an always broken SHO.

I pity your car.

I can beat radiator.com's price if you need a radiator :D Personally if I was you, make that a parts car and pick up another SHO. You know what they say, "your not an addict till you have a SHO and a parts car for when something breaks".

Is this your first car ? How long have you owned it and was it in this shape when you got it?Either you need to learn how to maintain a vehicle, or, give in and find someone you can trust to do everything on your car. Talk to friends in your area to get referrals to a mechanic. Now, being it is a SHO, that is a large request to fill. You need to be especially handy and aware of all that is going on with the car at all times. Best of luck ,but, as recommended above, it may be time to drop back and punt, get another car and start over.
