I'm sure glad I was on EB before this. These guys would have probably killed it for me

I would just fluid cycle.

Getting this back on track for a bit...

(this post is a cut/paste I put into my RDU thread as well, btw...)

OK, so I have decided to go ahead and pay for the fluid exchange. Simply for the first time to get all the old fluid out and put this Amsoil in there. After this time, I will proceed with the 5 out/5 in technique. I just want to ensure I've got a good starting point for this initial fluid change.

Before I pull that trans plug out, are you able to verify if that plug is also a 1/8 NPT fitting? When I take the car to get fluid exchanged, i want to give them the fitting to replace with my setup to facilitate future changes.

Yes, 1/8 NPT.
Thank you for confirming this for EBX.

I couldn't readily recall, and was scrolling back through my "How-To" on retro-fitting the OEM AUX Trans Cooler from like years ago, and here you confirmed before I was able to.

And @EBX..... the trans fluid swap is easier than even doing the oil.

I prescribed the same method(s) of 5 in/5 out, but typically I would yield about 5.5qts out at any given interval, and I'd recommend even dumping another 1/2qt in there (to total 6 going in) to help mitigate starvation when launching hard (drag runs/street light stop light runs, etc.)

Well for one thing I'm not sure why you guys think the TC stays full... thats not possible, at rest it drains down into the tranny and theres only really like a quart or less of it in there.
But when I did this I was able to drain out almost 11 quarts so yeah theres probably a bit of the mercon V in there, but less than a quart in nearly 11 quarts of mercon lv im not too concerned. The real thing is how long you wanna wait if you leave it up there itll keep draining out just very slowly

You dropped 11 quarts out of your trans............

Not possible but okay......
