Ive heard of all the brackets and pulleys. Gutting the compressor.
I want it all out, but I dont want to remove the wrong things. Is there a guide anywhere about removing the A/C? If not ill go by your guys words and take photos so there is one. I need some serious SHOers help on this one.

My belt is already routed without the A/C and the idler pulley between the water pump and altenator is also gone (is this bad?).

No I want to take the A/C compressor, housings, and hoses out, but dont know what to use to keep the motor mount supported. I also dont know what can and cant come out.

Assuming you have a 3.2 with one belt...

If you mean you went straight from the alternator across the water pump to the p/s pump, then you've eliminated most of the wrap (i.e., the amount of belt that contacts the pulley) on the water pump and reduced it quite a bit on the alternator. Other people have done this, too, and gotten away with it, but it increases the chances of the water pump and/or the alternator slipping. I left the idler in as I don't want either to slip. Ever. ;)

Phoenix' pic shows how to keep the gutted a/c compressor in place to support the front bracket.

I used a plate instead, like this:

yeah on my 93 mtx i removed the compressor, took it completely apart and removed all the insides that i could. It reduced the weight on it a ton. weighed less than half after that. Put the Case "metal shell" back in just so i could put the bolts back in for the motor mount support.

bought a shorter belt, i think 41 inches from autozone. All i did was bring the old one up to autozone with me and tell them how long I needed and they matched me up a new one that worked fine.

so my motor still had the support it needed, the AC was deleted and weighed alot less.

I cut out the hoses and extra AC crap with my Sawzall and a metal blade on it haha. Its not the "proper way" but its alot faster and worked fine for me ! Didn't have to buy any special kits or junk like that. Just like a $5 belt!

I would take a picture but the 93's engine is completely in pieces right now with no accessories on it :-/

haha... Hopefully you get your system evacuated (unless of coarse yours already is missing the refridgerant) Then just remove your Hoses, Accumulator, and Evaporator. And make sure its unplugged if you decide to keep the wheel spinning as an idler,

for what the AC system weighs its well worth keeping to have ice cold air when wanted, rather then fuss over 20 pounds of AC stuff go on a diet .

....that's always assuming it works. If it's not operational and full of holes like mine was, it's just as well to spend a destructive afternoon disassembling things with great malice....

I will say, however, that a gutted A/C compressor weighs like 2lbs and provides all the support you'd need on that front motor mount bracket. Having broken two of those brackets on my MTX, I'd highly recommend something on there to keep things together.
