Not sure how much you paid, but I really like weathertech over husky liners. The weathertech mats are about as perfect of a fit as you can get. I had husky liners in my escape and they worked, but the fitment was off a little bit in some areas. Your pics look pretty good though.

Great choice Driver. They look like my Weathertechs kinda. They sure will hold more debris than the stock ones ever would have huh? Your carpet will thank you for that. ;)

Another $300 and you could have yourself a winter beater; totally eliminating the need to protect against salt stains on your $40,000 ride...Even on the OUTSIDE (rust)...

Here in Detroit (I'm sure its similar in Ont.) cars are nasty, rusty piles after 10 years of winters. Even my Dads well taken care of, garaged, washed weekly, 2001 Lincoln started bubbling last year. The dealer gave him a whopping $1800 for it.

Even if I was a rich man, I wouldn't want my less-than-10-years old $40,000 car to rust.

It's really depressing when I see a 2002 Ford Escape with rusty rear wheel lips. Your car costs twice as much as that Escape was new.

I'm not saying anyone's doing anything wrong...just stating my distaste for rust.

Ever hear of "storage insurance"? If you get "storage only" on your 2010 SHO and add simple liability to your winter beater, you'll end up paying less in total for insurance.

Since you aren't driving the SHO in the winter (when you can't really enjoy it for what it is anyway) then you aren't spending anything for gas.

Registration is what...a hundred bucks?

If you do this, you'll be able to enjoy your $40,000 car for 30-40 years, I'd guess...instead of like...8.

You expect a modern car used as a daily driver to last 40 years? LOL.

Troof! I bought my '92 Taurus LX for $500 and paid $75 for tax/title/license. I haven't had to do anything to that car yet. It leaks just enough oil that all I've done is topped it off for the last year.

Why not? If you really like your car and willing to spend $40k on it, why subject it to harsh winters? There is that likely chance you'll sell it too. I wouldn't touch a car with rust. My SHO has absolutely no rust and I'd imagine it'd go a little more than an average SHO if I were to sell.

...But, there's nothing like snapping bolts and such when having to work on the car after just a few winters.

Same year car (2005).

My wife wants a bigger car/SUV for the kids and family, but I won't let her spend more than $10k until we get out of a place that destroys them in the winter. She isn't willing to drive a beater in the winter like me.

I bought an awd car with heated seats to enjoy in the colder months. I dont keep my cars for 10 years. I drive them for 2 years or so and move onto something else, so it's someone else's rust to worry about. Besides I wouldn't want to be stuck in Detroit with a beater car.
