I mounted some better tires on my 95 yesterday. I recieved some Michelin 225/50/17 V rates. I decided to measure my wheels while I had them dismounted. They ended up being 8" from inside bead to inside bead. From outer to outer they measured 9.5". So I'm guessing they are 17x8. Are their any advantages to this? I have never tracked her, but have plans to someday.

There is, but I think those rims are heavy. Ive never experienced 8" rims on a Taurus myself, but its obvious that the more road contact you have, the better your traction will be.

I have some Miglia MM2's that are 8". I planned to put some race tires on them, but according to the UPS digital scale, they weigh 23.6 lbs. I cant imagine yours being any lighter.

I HAD some Mille Miglia 17x8 wheels with 235/45/17. You can definately feel the grabbing power of that extra inch of contact. At least I think so, especially when compared to slicers. And I agree that the Miglia wheels are a bit on the heavy side.

I have a few pics of the wheels here... www.myspace.com/510sho

When I went up to my huge 18" wheels, I did notice a small power loss, but the turn in from much smaller sidewalls feels a lot like aluminum SFBs on slicers (what my other SHO has), and the added grip is just astounding.
