I have a slipping in 4th on my ATX, but this only starts once it is warm. I Check the C-Clip, all is good there any other ideas?

Time to start planning for a rebuild.

Why would it be time to start planning for a rebuild for him? What would be failing to make it do that? the 3-4 clutch pack? Also we don't know how many miles he has on the tranny yet.

Slipping in 4th gear w/ no C-clip issue is likely due to slippage in the clutch pack. The fact that this occurs only when warm makes the slipping clutch pack more likely, as the slightly thicker cold oil is a little more "sticky" than hot oil. Another possibility is the pressure control solenoid is keeping pressures too low, that is also not uncommon. The epc solenoid is replaceable w/o pulling the trans, but you need to take it to a trans shop for a complete diagnostic to confirm that is the issue before replacing it, because its a bunch of money/work for nothing if that's not it.

So i just got a call from the tranny shop and don't think it is the trans. So they want to recommend me to someone, because they think it is the engine.

How would your engine make 4th gear slip ? Sounds like another atx about to grenade to me . I don't think I would go to that shop if that's the advice they gave you .
