I just got a bunch of stuff done in preparation for the Convention next week. A few month ago I had a new clutch and a Quaife installed. It has probably no more than 4-500 miles tops on the new clutch.

So yesterday I pick up the car with the new cat-back system, and I hammer it leaving, hit second and clutch spun!

This morning I wasn't thinking and gave it a good launch and spun it again, immediately got off it but now I'm worried about how I should treat it for the next 1000 mile road trip to NH, so it will grab instead of slipping.

Any quick comments will be much appreciated.

hmm, something's probably not kosher with the installation then; a fairly used stock clutch would not even slip like that; you should have some kind of guarantee from the installer, so it can be redone properly, and at no additional cost. Does the clutch pedal grab close to the floor, middle or closer to the top of pedal travel ?
What clutch did you get put in ?

Sorry for the non-response...

... been on vacation last week...:omgsho:

Clutch is fine I just didn't LAUNCH it like I would have needed to considering the Quaife, big new tires, easing the clutch out instead of DUMPING it!

All's well after 2500 miles with a spirited track day in the middle.

Thanks for the ideas.

Have you ever put a clutch in yourself? Or have you just read about it?

We know who did it now, and so the install was done prperly after all, and it is just a driver thing. I only have done 3 clutch installs; one of my least favorite things on a SHO, and would rather pay someone to do it than do another one. BTW I sent you a PM about doing my clutch/trans install, etc, and never got a reply.

My intention was to responsibly CLOSE this thread not open up a can-o-worms.

Should have deleted this after I figured out what I was doing WRONG with my clutch.

Play nice boys...

I got him the Sachs stock replacement.

That's what I had in the 95. Worked great and held well at the Drag strip. I once tried to be a bad ass and do a Burnout, Needless to say....It went Terrible wrong and I overheated the clutch. It slipped for a few minutes and the pedal went extremly soft. It cooled down, Acted normal and held up to quite a few runs at the drag strip afterwords and still holds and drives great.

Also, My current stock replacement (LUK) in my 92 Has held to numerous hard shifts, 4 Auto-X events and the use of a 55 shot. I'm not expecting it to hold Forever, But I'm happy so far. Stock SHO Clutches FTMFW.
