Slight Engine Vibration *UPDATE*

Sometimes after driving for awhile my car will feel like its missing just slighty when going around 40 in 4th gear is when I notice it the most. Sometimes it worse than other times, yet sometimes it's perfect. Still seems to have good power if I downshift and punch it. Any ideas? Could it be IAB? shrug

Got CHECK ENGINE light? If no CE light, it's most likely the plug and/or plug wires causing a misfire. Got oil in your plug wells?

Occasionally I was getting a CE light and it came up as CID. I replaced that Saturday. There is very minimal oil in the plug wells, not even enough to see. I figured that might be what it is, but its weird cause it only does it sometimes at varying levels. I will eventually get a tune up when I can come up with the cash this summer.

On a side note, I still occasionally am getting hard starts like a faulty CID sensor. But, it hasnt started bucking or throwing the CE light since replacement. shrug

Watch your tach when you have the hard start.

If you're not getting any tach reading, you still may have a CID concern. Someone recently posted a similar problem after replacing a CID sensor only to find that a rubber gasket inside the connector had stayed there when the new sensor (which already had one) was installed.

Ok when I got home today after about a 60 mile drive. I jumped out the car with the engine still running and popped the hood. It appears that one of the spark plugs boots has a very slight hole in it. It looked like oil was bubbling out of it, right where the top of the boot is. There isn't enough oil in the spark plug wells to bubble out yet, so my question is..could this be the possible problem. I will try to get a picture tonite when I get my digital camera. It's kinda hard to explain.

I also noticed my engine sounds like it chattering/knocking a bit. I wonder if that could be the valve's out out adjustment? Hopefully its nothing seriously like a rod!

Lets say that any amount of oil in the plug wells isn't a good thing and you maybe shorting out your plug wire eek! (the one with the hole in it, oil bubbling out of the wire? not a good thing = a dead cylinder) Time to spend some money purchase a felpro valve cover gasket set which comes with the new plug well seals. Make sure to purchase two intake manifold mounting gaskets some new motorcraft spark plugs and wires.

I don't have the part numbers on me at this time but you could use the "search" feature and find them here on the forum.

Well I can tell you its not dropping a cylinder because I have had that happen on my white SHO. The boot snapped and came unhooked while driving. I definatly noticed it running on 5 cylinders then.

What I did for now, and it seems to have worked, was take some gunky glue/vaseline stuff I found near the spark plug boots and put it over the little pin hole. I'm guessing someone else had done this because there was just an excess amount of goo sitting there. Seems to work for now. Anyway I will be getting a tune-up in the next few months so all will be well! thumb
