Maybe I'm over-simplifying this, but couldn't a person just splice a catch can into each of the stock pcv lines and be further ahead than stock?

I fully understand that it wouldn't do the job that the UPR and other kits do, but can't help but think that as long as you used quality cans you would still gain some ground over stock without the big investment for the top tier kits. Not looking to start another heated catch can debate, just for some input on my proposed design. Thank you all.

I did this using mishimoto universal catch cans, and it worked fine until one of them got plugged, removed lots of oily gas smelling nastiness

Any chance you've got pictures of your setup? Just curious about possible mounting points for the front-side can.

I'll see if I can find any pictures, I took them off of the car for winter... Turns out if the catch cans get plugged it creates extreme pressure in the engine forcing oil into the combustion chamber and creating a **** of a smoke show. I had mounted them both in the gap behind the coolant reservoir though.

Gotcha, I remember a thread on here about that. I'm not in a big rush, so if you're going to put them back on when warmer weather comes back that would work too.
