My wife's uncle has a 93 ATX with what Ford says are clogged cats. Instead of going the mildly expensive way and getting a Catco y-pipe ($2700 for a Ford Y-pipe), we contacted a fellow in Albany, NY named Bruce about a Y-pipe......he said he had one......$80 or something like that....money order shipped.....3 months ago..... :squint:

Since then, several attempts have been made to contact him (a.k.a. numerous voicemails left on a cell phone), to no avail. So.....does my wife's uncle have any reason what-so-ever to wanna travel to the address he sent the money order and MAKE the dude cough up a y-pipe or some cash, or are we over-reacting?

Here's a couple of things in your favor.

Money order
Sent in the mail

First have the company who issued the money order run a trace on it to see if it's cleared. Did you get any confirmation from him that he received the money order? Of not and the money order hasn't cleared then file for a refund.

If it has been cashed then go for the gusto. File a fraud complaint with the company who issued the money order and then go to the post office and file for mail fraud charges.

That sounds like a lot of work......wouldn't it be more fun for my Uncle to just road trip over there and perform some impromptu elbow bends or something?

Seriously, though, I'll have him do what you suggested.

If you get stuck I have a used stock ATX Y-pipe boxed & ready to go. I mugged a UPS driver in Albany to get it (j/k). I am serious about the pipe though, if you get stuck.

I am rather reluctant to get involved in this but I have been in touch with Bruce and this is what he said:

"Tracking number 524754060001303 signed for by an S. Bennett, on August 9th at 1:38pm. Y-pipe was brought back to bruce because of some sort of Fedex packagiing restriction, it was repackaged and sent out"

Apparently it was improperly packaged the first time and was returned to Bruce. I did use the tracking # which is valid.

I've worked with Bruce before. Sometimes he's slow to ship things, but he's never ripped me off.
