Pulling the MAF connector means the ECU no longer receives the variable signals it expects. So the engine will run quite poorly with the connector pulled. If there is no change, you can try cleaning the MAF, but may wind up needing a replacement MAF. Both the IAC and the MAF are like that. Replacement is the ultimate fix. Though I imagine not using an oiled filter, and installing a PCV catch can could only help.

The IAC is attached to the throttle body, it has two I believe 10mm bolts holding it on, and a wire clip. I use an awl to slide the mechanism back and forth while using a a degreaser, keep the end with the plug up so the spray doesn't get up inside the unit. It will probly be pretty oiley. I have had luck cleaning those components hope you do too.

I'm with sperold, a new small bodied turbo car they just dropped 20k plus on barely out edged a 20 year old Taurus. I'm sure he isn't feeling to good about his win.
