I'm really considering getting an aftermarket exhaust and was on the SHOshop. com website. I'm thinking about getting an alumnized catback. My question is if you compare it to the stock exhuast, how much better does it sound or should i really spend the extra cash and go with the stainless steel. I dont have much cash and thats why I'm pondering the idea of aluminum. What are the pros and cons of both?? Thanks for the help

Chris,

Do you need to replace the system or are you doing it for performance? If you are looking for performance, a cat-back is not the way to go. The biggest gain is by replacing the mufflers with better flowing ones.

I still have the factory system on my 94'. The Dynomax cat-back with only last 3yrs max in PA. You may want to consider a custom mandrel bent system with turbo mufflers if you to replace the entire system.

the best way to go is to get a stainless system built for your car by a good local shop. stainless will last so so long. and if you ask me....sho shop your paying for the name......like tommy hilfiger or nike... you want a name, or a fast car that didn't cost so much??????

I personally cannot stand the edelbrock mufflers, that come with the shoshop catback. Their design also doesn't come with brackets past the race muffler. I had to make my own brackets and weld them on. Its way too much money for a system that doesn't bolt right on. If I ever have to replace the system(I don't drive it in the winter), I'll go to a custom exhaust system.
