Sho still smoking

Well, I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and plug seals. I put it all back together and started it up. It runs fine at idle but anything above that it starts smoking out the exhaust. I have no idea where to look now. Please help! By the way I have a 92 with 163k on it. Thanx

If it smokes out the exhaust that bad, its ore then likly a blown ring unfortunitly. Its not the end of the world you can still drive the car but it will have less power and burn oil. Probably wont pass inspection eather.

Burned oil can be caused by Bad piston rings or bad Valve stem seals.

It could be either rings or seals, but did the car ever smoke out of the exhaust before?

If not, it would be one heck of a coincidence if the car never smoked before, but is smoking now after the valve cover change.

Is it possible that you didn't seat the rear valve cover properly, causing oil to leak onto your exhaust manifold and burn off?

It actually did start smoking out of nowhere. It was very random. The car ran perfectly fine a couple of weeks ago. It smoked before I changed the seals too. I don't get it. So i'm guessing i have to rebuild it? Thanx for the help guys. Oh and one more question, could changing from full synthetic to non-syn. have any drastic effects like this?

heh...my SHO smokes at WOT(which is due to the pig rich chip tune) and when I take my foot off the gas after a hard pull...it's oil....pretty sure it's valve stems....hope so, anyway....

It might, im not to sure but v always herd once you have synthetic you CANT go back.
