So, after what has happened in my neighborhood in the past year or so, and especially after today, I am looking into some way to keep my SHO safe. It has an alarm, but it is quite easy to get in the car, open hood and pull the fuse so I am wondering if there is any way to prevent the car from being taken. Would it be possible to have some sort of **** switch or something?

Something like this? http://www.superhighoutput.com/mods_view.php?id=1

The problem with that is that it doesn't prevent the car from being started, but only prevents the car from being started with the starter.

Your best bet is to interrupt the ON circuit with a relay. As long as my alarm is armed, the ON circuit is disabled. Additionally, I have it wired to fail safe to ON disabled. So even if you cut power to the alarm, the ON circuit is still disabled.

Done like this, the only way your car is going to move is on the back of a tow truck. :)

My '93 has a starter disable as part of the alarm. Being an ATX it can't be push started either.

If you look in the large fuse panel under the hood (drivers side behind the shock tower) I forget which, but the one of the two closest to the passenger side IIRC will disable the fuel pump when unplugged (poor man's alarm) or you can use a relay and switch, or just a switch. Or you can interrupt the wiring for the inertia switch, with again a switch or switched relay.

Could you go into more detail? I will do it the way in the link for now because something is better than nothing. Also, whenever the car is parked the tires are turned all the way and the steering wheel is locked, but the ignition sometimes turns with out keys, which unlocks the steering wheel.

Wait a minute, couldn't you do the same thing in the link to the shifting lock thingies on the ATX's?

Ok, now I know this isn't exactly 'legal' on an airbag equipped vehicle, however I see tons of Hondas with aftermarket steering wheels/airbag deletes. I give to you the Grant Vehicle Security System:
PIC 6649
PIC 6643
All I have to say is when they broke in/tried to hotwire the van they did not touch the Torino at all becuase there was no steering wheel. I take it out every night and whenever I am in a parking lot with public access other than my work, or if I will be out of view of the car for an extended period of time.

Even with the steering unlocked it is difficult to steer at any decent speeds (above 10) I have driven mine w/o the wheel before to repark it, wouldn't try it again. It works with any 5 bolt Grant wheel, and other brands can work if you can find an adaptor.

Just trip the inertia switch in the trunk. No fuel ='s no go.

Sounds like your ignition is wearing out. I replaced the one in my '93 when I swapped the interior, the interior-donor car had a newer ignition switch and my original was starting to work with most Ford keys.

The last time I had to do an ignition switch it was the same style as the Taurus one. Pep Boys should have it in stock, although it has a black bezel instead of chrome.
