My 93 looked like that when I got it at 149k. The previous owner kept the outside of the motor clean, the interior was in great shape, but I guess he couldn't have been bothered to change the oil ever. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew how sludgy it was. My 94 and 92 motors looked brand new on the inside at similar mileages (

an update: the cylinder with the valve lying on it was welded and did not spin the valve did drop into the engine and we are looking around for another engine. When we get a new one ill try to revive this one for a gen4 rwd swap that we all want to see... and that engine u have there SHODWN needs to be taken apart and acid diped... that is horable.... i was at out local ford dealer one day and a V8 SHO came in looked relitivly new. old lady drivin had 65k i was taken back by the low milage till the techs let me look at it oil never was changed and it had no coolant left...

Here you go... When you have welded, serviced, or crushed about 40% of all Gen 3s made you see lots of crazy ***** like this..

Wanna see the cam LOBE weld pics? or the ziptie fix for the cams just let me know.

Hod one like that in service @ the dealership one day. Car had 35k miles on it and the owner specifically stated that she thought "100k miles between service's" ment she didnt need an oil change for another 65k

she only came it because it just plain quit running.

For some stupid reason chrysler approved it for warranty repairs. 3 rod bearings and a new piston later it was back on the road and clean on the inside

What the **** is all that caked up crud? I had the valve covers off and stuff looked pretty clean. I've never seen a modern engine like that. Is that build up from clogged passages??

EVERY car that I've worked on that looked like that or worse... had pennzoil in it!

Repeat after me: correlation is not causation. Again: correlation is not causation. Very good. :)

pax, smn

"Correlation does not imply causation" is the commonly used phrase I guess you were going for....

I now will ask you to say "correlation proves causation" again.... "correlation proves causation"

:thankyou:

A lot of motors from the 50's used to look like that when torn apart. The explanation then was there was something called parifin (like in the canning business) that was either in the oil, or was created by the conditions, that plated out on all the parts until it became a gooey mess. Back then, you could buy a 6 year old car and when you pulled the motor, the pistons were .020 over and the crank had been turned .010.... it had already been rebuilt once.
Did these people buy out the old stock of a gas station in the 50's?
