Ron,

That sounds good. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be going, now. Zack said he googled the route and it'd take him over an hour out of his way to get the tires and a whole lot of fuel in his truck. I don't want to put him out like that nor pay that much for fuel, so I guess I'll keep looking here in my area for used race tires and hope I get lucky. If I find a set, I'll see you up there. Thanks.

Don’t let tires keep you from coming. Hallett is a blast no matter. And with street tires you’ll have a better excuse for getting lapped by the 3.4

Here's some info that I posted over on the SHO Club Facebook age:

FYI, Just a couple of items related to the drive to Tulsa this weekend.

The MN folks will be coming down I-35, and staying at the Econolodge in Belton, MO on I-49 on Saturday night, July 14th.

Kirk will be coming across I-44, staying in Sullivan MO on Saturday night.

I (Ron Porter) will be staying at the Holiday Inn St Louis SW - Route 66, just off I-44, on the west side of St Louis on Saturday night. Turns out I had IHG points expiring next week, so Holiday Inn it is!

Over the years, we have gone from CB radios to FRS radios as our Convention communication devices. We are now using the Zello app, a free app that mimics the old Sprint/Nextel walkie-talkie network. If you are attending, download the app, and play with it.

Finally found an outdoor gun range that (1) wasn't a private club, (2) was outdoors, and (3) was open all weekdays.

From what I understand of the schedule, Tuesday after the car show is our best time.

Happy Hollow Gun Club...
10103 S 193rd W Ave
Sapulpa, OK 74066

Here's the range info:

It is about 30 miles from the hotel, but right off I-44, so a half hour drive

Aw, how cute--you think the 3.4 will pass me.

Actually, if it's gutted, it will pass me. lol

I got the race tires, though, so I'm good to go.

It's all the driver, guys!! Unless there's serious engine mods, with serious suspension and tire upgrades with a driver to match, SHOs all come down to the driver!

Exactly. But don't tell anyone else that, because I have to convince them it's my car that's so fast, not me, so I can sell it! ;)

My 95 on R comps was nearly 3 sec slower around Hallett than this 3.4 on 340 treadwear street tires. The TQ seems to makes a difference. Granted, it’s nearly 3 seconds slower around Hallett than my track car on R comps, but I’m super impressed with the capability of this full weight GEN 2.

I drove that car at Gingerman, and on the strip at Lapeer. Most impressive SHO I've ever driven. Not the most powerful, but the best responding, and overall competent. If the factory ever bothered to modify the V6 SHO for more power, this is what they would have done.

Yeah, torque works wonders coming out of the turns.

So it's a full weight like mine? Well, good luck keeping up then. You'll outrun me on the straights, though, if you don't crack your paper-thin block. lol 3.4's impressive. I thought 3.3 was the best we could do with these motors. You got some really good sleeves in that thing?

Nope, it's stroked. Offset crank grind, using Manley Chevy rods. Ask John Hrinsin about the build, he'll gladly spend 8 hours describing the entire process!!

Yep, this is what the SHO should have become between 89-95, instead of no power upgrades.

I'm not sure if I like that or not. The short stroke of the motor is what gives it the strong high-end power but also what keeps it from having more torque. So I figure if they just upped the horsepower, the torque would've followed right behind it. But stroked motors sacrifice horsepower gains for torque gains. Hmm...

If the legends are true about our motor, it had great cams and a five-valve motor originally that put out 300hp, which is comparable to the E46 M3 3.2 with 333hp and 257 tq. That would've been impressive. But they say Ford didn't want the SHO to beat the Mustang, so they dropped the hp down.

I know tq is useful but I'm still conflicted. Even if I did a supercharged or turbo build, I'd keep the 3.0 and just port it for velocity to increase hp since there would be plenty of tq. With too much tq, these cars have a hard time hooking up anyway, so less torque on launch would help.

However, if you have an all-motor car, I'm thinking I'd go with the 3.4 because that tq is invaluable on the track. You're gonna come out of the turns hard. Sounds like a really good track car.

What are the spring rates on your suspension? I'm sitting at 450 front, 350 rear.

That story about the 300 hp version just won't die! Truthfully, 300 hp is nothing for that engine. But, then you have to put on accessories, and meet EPA emissions and mileage standards.

The 3.4 in Tim's car already puts out 300 chp. IIRC, it's 247 whp, and with an 18% loss for the MTX, puts it at 300 chp. And that's at the limit of traction, even with a Quaife. Three of us drove it at the strip, and nobody could get it to hook up to run a 13.
