Can't wait for my new SHO to get here, we got blasted here in Michigan with about a foot of snow last night! My G8 GT that I am turning in from its lease is not so great in the snow, anyone have a chance to drive their SHO in bad weather yet? Seems like even with the 20" all season tires with AWD should be pretty good. Thanks for the input.....

I think I'm one of the only here that wouldn't take the car in the snow, but we want pictures of the car going one way and the front wheels pointed the other direction. :)

I'm in Milwaukee. I received my 2010 SHO in October 2009 with the performance pack. This included the Goodyear F1 Supercar performance tires. I took the car out in a snowstorm in December and immediately turned around and went home because the car was slipping all over the place. The last thing I wanted was to have this beauty slide into something else and mess it up.
I soon got Michelin Primacy all-season tires on the car and put the F1 tires up for sale. Yesterday we got more than 12 inches of snow. The car was right on track driving to work and back home in the snow storm with the all-season tires and AWD. I was not worried in the least about what my car was going to do and could focus on what everyone else was doing.
I'm thinking that the all-season tires should be part of the performance pack for cars sold in snowy climates. I know they put an engine block heater in my car as well as in some other northern states with no additional charge. The Goodyear F1s are great tires on a dry road above freezing temperatures, but you don't want them in cold weather and snow.

Nah, mine doesn't leave the garage either bro. I'm fortunate to have a big 4x4 truck I can use or my blown gen 3 if need be has a last resort. The 2010 is not having the chance of getting hit by some ******* who can't drive in the bad weather.

I keep my baby home during rough weather mainly cuz I can't predict what other knuckle heads will do and because I have other cars I can drive but I have "played" with it in my neighborhood a little in the ice and snow and it is extremely stable and predictable I thought (20" with Michilen Primacy MXV-4 shoes).

My car has the optional 20" wheels but not the performance package. I believe the tires are Michelin all seasons? I had a 2005 CTS-V with the Goodyear F1 runflat tires, they were a handfull. Cadillac did not bother to tell anyone that you should not drive the car in the snow, and that they last about 4000 miles too.:laugh_ti:

20" Rims without 12S come with Michelin Primacy MXV4.

12S Equipped SHOs come with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires.

I live in Maryland and we are getting hit with snow again today. When I went to work this morning it was freezing rain. About the time I got there it had changed to snow and within 2 hours we had about 4 inches. I was impressed wiht the way my car handled. I have the 20" michelin tires and the traction control system response great! I could get the car to spin and slide but the system just made it kind of hard to do. Also the cruise was disabled after the sensor became clogged with snow. Very impressed!!

Rode/handled much better than my previous 07 honda ridgeline!!!!

Why not dirve it in the snow ? the 2010 SHO was listed as one of the best AWD cars for snow, as well as the AWD Fusion in yesterdays AOL autos article. Its AWD, so that is what it is designed for.

As listed above, it's not the car that can't handle it's the other folks on the street you have to worry about.

It,s the tires that suck on the 12s pkg. Called local tire shop (guy i deal with all the time )$ 1281.00 for blizzaks mounted and bal. over $2100.00 for rims and tires. The 2006 500 sel i traded in was great in the snow. Knowing what i know now i probably would not have ord. the 12s.New car is my dd and my 03 Cobra is my fun drive.

No thanks on the salt-bath.

There is a reason my 15 yo Taurus makes people think the car has been repainted.

I have driven mine in snow plenty. Even with the 20" Mich's, it's okay at best. A good set of 19" narrow snows Like Blizzaks would be ideal. I may do that for next year. I had Blizzaks on both of my front drive Acura TLs, and they were by FAR better with that combination than the AWD Taurus with the Mich's.

Sorry if I come off a bit arrogant or rub someone the wrong way, but why would anyone think that Goodyear Eagle F1s will work in the snow? All Eagle F1's are summer performance tires. They are not rated for any snow use. These tires are far from sucking. They are very high performing tires in their category, which is dry, warm pavement conditions with some rain use. I just want to ask, what were you thinking when you thought a summer performance tire would work in the winter?

I shouldn't bother to answer your questions, but it seems you may need your nose directed somewhere else besides upward. I knew very well that the Goodyear F1 tires were summer performance tires before I took possession of the car. I never thought those tires would work in winter. The tires are very nice, high performing tires in the warmer weather. I found that out first hand. I knew I would have to change out the tires for the Wisconsin winter. I hadn't gotten it done by the time there was some snow in early December and I thought I would take it out to get a first hand feel for what those tires couldn't do. A drive around the block was all that was needed and I returned home. I immediately replaced the F1s with the Michelin Primacy all-season tires.

My post was intended to provide some first hand experience with driving in snow with a 2010 SHO and warn any readers about the summer performance tires versus all-season tires. I gathered that was the type of information asked for in the initial post in this thread. I thought the purpose of the forum was to share helpful information. I also thought it was reasonable to suggest that Ford equip the cars sold in snowy climates with the 12S performance pack with all-season tires instead of the summer performance tires.

As an aside, I recall my '92 SHO came with Goodyear Eagle performance tires when I bought it new. You won't need to tell readers that performance tires in 1992 were different than performance tires in 2010. We all get it that technology can change over an 18 year period. The Goodyear Eagle tires were nicely performing tires back then and they weren't really bad in the snow, although they didn't last much more than 20,000 miles. I replaced them with all-season tires for the rest of the 17 years and 185,000 miles that I enjoyed driving the car.

Finally, the only thing I miss about the 2010 SHO is a manual transmission. This is the first and only automatic I have owned. My first car was a 3 on-the-tree Maverick and all the rest have had a clutch until now. The paddle shifters aren't a bad option, but It's not like having a clutch. Maybe it won't matter much now that I am closer to 60 than 50.
