Ok so I found I black 97 sho for 750 in georgia on craigslist the guy claims car is in good shape but the tc needs to be replaced the car won't go in gear. The question is what should I expect to pay to fix it if I wanted this car. If I took it to a shop and if I had it done by me and a buddy that kinda knew what we were doing

About book value when you're done. You need to verify that it's the tc and doesn't need a whole tranny replacement.

Well from the way he's talking it seems to be in good shape now just needs a new tc. I plan on messaging the guy and seeing what's all wrong and see if I could atleast look at it.

Ok I just messaged the guy he said that it doesn't register any gear and he hasn't scanned for codes yet I might grab a code reader and go look at it. He said he thought it was tc. Or possibly just sensor and I could always stick the trans from my car into it..lol..

Reading codes is a waste of time. Car no move = tranny no good. For what a tranny job is going to cost, there are other, better, running/driving cars out there.

You already have a donor. If the rest of the car is in great shape then $750 for a good interior and exterior isn't bad. If the motor is good then swap the tranny and you're off and running.

the motor is good in both cars. I prefer my medium graphite. But with the little body damage it has and the wind noise it creates. It get annoying sometimes..I figured it would be great if it was just a tc or something small. But not likely I guess its got 18xxxx miles on it so its probly the whole trans. But hey it was worth asking about.

I would think about it if the other body and interior were good. My car has some body damage in the rear quarter that annoys me but I will never pay to fix. I would however swap over to another car if it was the right price.

I would like to do something of the sort. And I agree on paying to fix the damage I checked at only one place and they quated just over a thousand to fix the dents in the two doors and repaint the two doors. If I could get the whole car painted for that than it would be worth thinking about. But apparently the medium graphite paint isn't cheap I was told 260 a pint. But the other car is in great shape other than the tranny and some wear on the driver seat.

Well I just did this dance with a 97' that I paid $900 for. After all said and done with transport from Kansas to Michigan I have almost $3200 into the car. I did the labor myself. I'm pretty sure you can buy a decent one for that price.

How much did you spend just on transport? There was a camfail not far from me and I was going to look at it for a motor swap.
