i came across a post (im not sure where exactly) about a week ago that said the stock calipers from a sho could be replaced with some from a lincoln. but ill be damned if i can find that link again. i was wondering what all i would need to do this and if it is worth it. now for the problem and why im thinking about doing this. i noticed a significant power loss the past few days, not sure what it was i started poking around since it didnt have the problem all the time. well what i noticed is that the front pass. side caliper is sticking (on and off). what made me think of the brakes was i noticed the sluggishness and tapped the brakes and they were very tight. after the tap they seemed to let loose and my power was restored. i was only a few blocks from home and when i got there i noticed a litle smoke from the mentioned brake.
just to refresh im considering changing to the lincoln setup (from what i remember it is supposed to give more braking power). could someone post a link to a thread telling me what all i would need to do this or even if it is worth it.

92 mtx 185k stock (for now) 800 bucks needed heater core and tires.

Sounds like your referring to the 96 brake upgrade. Search that and you'll find lots of resources.

Basically you swap out some parts with the 96+ SHO to get bigger rotors and calipers, IIRC

The Gen III SHO's share their brake setup with some Lincolns. So, it is really the '96 upgrade, not a Lincoln upgrade.

To do this on a '92 you will need:

94/95 Taurus ABS knuckles
94/95 Taurus caliper
96+ Taurus SHO caliper bracket
96+ Taurus SHO pads
96+ Taurus SHO rotors

To fix your '92 you could simply go to Kragen and buy a new caliper for ~$15 and replace it and be on your way.

Also, have you disassebled the brakes on that side? You could simply need to grease up the slider pins well and your problem will be gone.

85 mustang 5.0 t-tops 87-93 body upgrade (still needs some work) $1200
92 ford f250 4x4 (bad motor) with j/k motor, radiator, and not much else, 86k truck less than $2000 invested.
89 ranger 2.9 (bad tranny) with j/y tranny, and not much else, under $600 invested. 151k on this and still strong. (just needs a quart of lucas at o/c)
now my 92 SHO 185k with new tires, heater core, and some more on the way, so far under $1300 invested. runs like a champ and fits the family. much cheaper on gas than the f250.
