Shipping an Engine

Hi all. Quick question. Has anyone ever shipped anything substantial, like an engine. Im looking at buying an engine in the midwest and am having trouble getting an accurate shipping quote. I dont know how big it would be, I can estimate weight pretty close, but thats about it.

It anyone has used a company or know of a company I would appreciate any help.

thanks

Brian, to get a good quote you'll need to know the weight and likely approx dimensions. When I had a motor shipped from Minn. to VA I had to use a freight shipper and had to pay extra to have it delivered to my home (truck with a lift in the back). You can save a few $ if you can get it delivered to a place that has an offload area for trucks. I didn't have such a place. Check with Chris or Kirk. I bet they know how much a GenIII motor weighs and about how much to ship one.

Once you know how heavy and the to and from shipping points, you can google freight shippers and get a few quotes.
