'94 shifter is a rod based shifter, where the '89 is a cable based shifter. However you can fit the rod shifter in your '89 if you want, but you will need all the bracketing and the bent resonator pipe (or dynamax cat-back with bent pipe)... info on the rod shifter upgrade here --> http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/mod...e=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0&sid=172

I have done this on my '90 and I think it is well worth the effort. However if you need a quick fix, there is also a mopar clip that will work to hold the cable onto the ball joint, it costs like $2.60 I believe and is available at any dealer.
