It’s true
I think the cable from a 3.8 with the center console shift has the same cable. For example 95 SE or LX?
FYI it’s a difficult pull and the last one I sold for $100 because of all The effort and time involved.

The Ford part number is FODZ-7E395-B

Brian is correct, it's the same cable on any floor shift Taurus. It might actually fit other applications too. The FO designates 1990. I didn't there were any floor shift Taurus before 93.

Yea I just keep finding F0DZ-7E395-A and not F0DZ-7E395-B when looking . Even when looking for sables or taurus. Pretty sucky part to break hopefully I find one . All the ones I find are -A column shifter

Hopefully by miracle someone has one. Right now big paper weight, I doubt universal ones can be installed
