My **** has worn down. It's just been handled too much. Anyone got a line on replacements?

I did this. It’s a Mustang **** converted to fit the SHO.you have to trim the whit plunger inside the shifter. There is a better tutorial from another member. I’ve been away from this forum for a while and can’t remember his handle right now. But it’s here.

Thanks for the info, but I would be highly surprised if an auto **** for a gen 4 would work on a stick on a gen 1!

You know when I saw the black **** above I thought to myself, “*******, you should have looked to see what year/gen he had.”

Any Mustang k n o b will screw right on but the problem is that the SHO k n o b has deeper threading. With the Mustang k n o b there will be a gap at the boot if you don't get creative. Here are some pics of what I did to get rid of the gap.

If you can find a real Mustang k n o b in actual black leather instead of the charcoal gray it will look really good. I have an 80s GT k n o b in my white 89 at the moment. I've also had a Ford Performance SVO Hurst style k n o b in my 91+ before.

The one I got did say it was black, but I'll have to see it in person to confirm it isn't just a dark grey.

I like the spacer idea. I will most likely be heading over to Ace for that Hillman!

So my boot isn't long enough to join with the bottom of the k n o b, so I printed a spacer. Might think sometime of finding a longer one or getting the boot redone. Either way, I think it looks okay.

I got a mustang nobule a couple of months ago, I shimmed the shifter under the leather boot to make up the space. Additionally, I used Feibing's black leather dye to make the nobbie match the true black leather boot. It came out great and doesn't rub off on your hand. The mustang knobb matches well now.

edit - I noticed "****" is a swear word.

Yeah, that's the one thing I hate about the Mustang K n o b. They say it's black but it's really charcoal. I found an early 90s Cobra shift K n o b on ebay a while back and it is very black. I used it in my white 89 for a while before I bought my Foxbody and then I swapped it into it. If you can find one of these they are really nice. Very rare now though as they were Cobra specific.
