I recently noticed a big clunk sound from the front end under initial acceleration & on hard braking. I assume this is the sub frame bushings gone bad. More recently my steering wheel shimys at speeds between 30-40 mph. Is this related to the SFBs?

If so what kind of wear might be happening to my tires or other components if any?

Does Ford do the SFB bolt recall for any owner or do you have to be the original owner?

The recall covers the two rear mounts, you do not have to be the original owner.

It also has to come out of a certain factory according to ford unless they were just lying to me. A-holes.

They were lying about the "factory".

The recall only covers the bolts, not the bushings.

The recall only covers vehicles registered in "Rust Belt" states and provinces. Got to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/Index.cfm and enter the information for you year and make to see the exact text of the recall notice. It is available to any owner of any covered vehicle.

I recently posted how to test the SFBs and the motor mounts.

SEARCH.

Steve,
I found your posts on testing SFBs & Motor mounts. Thanks!
Sadly or gladly I did not fail any of the tests!
Motor raised up level forward & reverse, no shinny spot on the manifold. Also the motor doesn't seem to move at all on the side to side wheel turning as well as no drop at all on either side for the lift the body test.

Like I said I am getting a big clunk on initial acceleration & heavy braking as well as lots of steering wheel shake 30-40 mph. Seems like it should be the SFBs.

Any other things to look at?
