I am having a problem with my secondaries opening up. It looks to me that when the car is started the controller for the secondaries engages and closes the secondaries. Is this true??

I am getting a 511 code for the IAS check, I think this is for the secondaries.

I would also like to know if anyone has the ford part number for the controller for the secondaries. If I need a new one, It would be easier with a part number to find.

Thanks

Ray

Ummm.....511 is an ECU ROM failure, according to my handy dandy Chilton's manual. I get that one all the time because of my chip.

The secondaries are open until the car starts, and then vaccuum closes them.

I could be wrong about the code, but I'm looking at the chilton's right now, since I keep getting the same code....usually means that the puter's shot. Time for a new X2J, my friend!

Your handy dandy manual is correct. I have an LPM so that code is normal. The actual code is 551. So i was a digit off. :)

551=Idle Air Controller (IAC) circuit failure KOEO

need a new IAC......that's the sensor on your intake on the back of the throttle body. Comes off with two allen head bolts and a pigtail.

Actually 551 a manifold control error. Some Ford documentation incorrectly says 551 in an IAC code. I verified this just now - I made sure I had no codes set and then I disconnected the power to the IMRC solenoid. Sure enough 551 came up.

I think so also. I wish it was the IAC valve, I got like 6 of them, some polished up some not.

well I think my IMRC is bad cause I checked the wires for current and they have power so I think the solenoid is bad. I hooked up the vacuum straight thru to make sure the canister is good and they opened and closed fine.

The problem now is to find one. What really sucks is that I had 2 of them and can't find the damn things.

Anyone have one email me [email protected]

Thanks

Make sure you don't have the little curved vacuum hose hooked up to the wrong port on the black cannister. That cannister has a one way check valve in it that of course only works in one direction. Take the cannister off and give it a little shake, if you hear something rattling around inside it, the one way valve is broken.
