The actual seat bracket should be the same as the sable (or even SLO) of similar years...

I beleive the sables of '89 had 6-way seats so you might be able to swap out the entire bracket instead of scabbing the old one back together

Just have to try shrug

Same bracket is used on lots of seats. It's riveted on with some monster rivets. I took mine out and had the two pieces welded back together. Had a brace added, the original "U" shaped piece is a failure waiting to happen. This is a common problem on all older Taurus'. We should all look under the seat and examine that bracket for cracks.

i have a seat track for an 89, though its been welded on the right side. im sure its alright to use, cause the previous owner was heavy set and drove the car for 3 years after having the bracket welded. i didnt use it when i switched the seats in my 91. email me at [email protected] if youre interested.

The bracket is basically the shape of a "U" laying on its side. Just weld a piece of steel across the open part of the "U". Makes it very much stronger. All you need is a dinky piece of steel about the size of a thumbnail!!! Well, maybe a long thumbnail.

i think that the road crews are TRYING to dump as much salt as possible on the roads, especally at intersections when they have to stop. the piles of salt are like speed bumps, 6" high in some places. anyhow, have you seen my new SHO? the silver 1990. well, really, it's white now but under all the salt build-up it's silver. lateron, Corey.

Edmontonsho...Ifound the car at Impala auto..just down the road by the tracks off winterburn road.
Its a 89 white, grey interior. By what I could see ( it was buried under 2-3 feet of snow), it was in a front end accident, but still driveable, the guy I went into the yard with said they drove it around for a week before they were told to park it. Prob is the boss knows its value, and rarity,in this area.
Might still go back if i cannot get the track out of that sable at pick your part
