I'm looking at doing a RWD swap in a 90. I was looking for threads on it but really could only find a youtube video of it completed. My understanding is I could get a mid 90s Lincoln rear-end and driveshaft and the rest revolves around the engine rotation including dealing with the engine mounts, air, hoses and electrical connections. Exhaust is also going to be an issue due to having to relocate it so the driveshaft can use the tunnel, unless the driveshaft will be low enough to avoid interfering with it.

Thoughts? It has been sitting for over a year and my son has been telling me I have to do something with it. This'll also cure that mod itch and I can leave my Stinger alone.

Was the driveshaft done with just the exhaust route or did they cut it up some? I remember a rwd that I thought they cut aand welded a tunnel but that might be a different car. Been a really long time since I saw posts about people trying it.

Okay, so according to the video
The SHO is attributed to SuperChargedSHOGuy

The exhaust appears to be exiting behind the wheels instead of the rear, and there is definitely no exhaust pipe past the pumpkin, where I think you'd normally see part of the H.

Also the fuel tank is moved to the rear of the vehicle. I'm assuming that is more normal for RWD cars?

I wish he was still around to ask about it. Does it look like metal work was done around the driveshaft? I can't make out much from the camera angle. I haven't had a rwd car in a while so I don't remember exactly where the fuel tank is situated.

At 3:17, I believe that is an interior view looking at the "floor pan" or lack there of. At 3:23, I believe it further confirms this idea. I do not think there is anything left of the "tunnel" that was there from the factory. It appears the motor is sitting high enough that the transmission (and driveshaft) go above the exhaust to the rear.

Yes on second look I agree. I remember someone refabricating and his looks cut and boxed. I think his car is what I am remembering. It's been a long time since I read that topic in posts.

Found a crown vic rear end at the junk yard. Thinking about pulling the whole thing to start taking measurements on it.

I can see why cops complained that rear-end impacts were dangerous considering the placement of the fuel tank.

You might be better off looking for a mustang gt as they come with with a trac loc stock. But here is a great resource page on the 8.8

I know it's been a while but if you're still considering it, the best way to handle the transmission is to use an MTX flywheel and pair it with an m5od transmission and clutch from a 94 ranger. the tranny bolts up with some minor clearancing inside the bellhousing.

sho rwd swap into my mazda b3000

Or you can try and find the nonexistant quicktime sho to t5 bellhousing. the rest is just cutting and welding.
