i'm in the process of replacing the tranny in my 94 mtx and i have to remove the catalytic converters. the problem is that the spring bolts at the junction of the y-pipe and my cat-back dynomax system have rusted pretty badly and i can't turn either one at all. i tried wd 40 and also used a torch on them but neither worked so i'm stumped. any other ways to get them unstuck? there has also been a leak at that junction for quite a while that i would like to fix. does anybody know if new bolts would come with a donut seal kit?

The donut seal is a separate item. If I were in your shoes, I'd replace the spring bolts (there's a kit), and the donut gasket.

As far as the old rusted bolts, you're gonna want to use the rusted/ seized ferrous fastener removal tool to take care of that. The tool's common name is a Sawzall. :thumb:

Failing that, another option would be use of a fire wrench. Again, the common name is the Oxy/ Acetelyne Torch. :)

I had a hard time getting the parts from Advance Auto. They tried to give me the wrong stuff. I had to look in the Walker Exhaust catalog in the store to find the right kit. The parts folks were kinda clueless, so be forewarned that you might have to do some of the searching yourself to get the correct parts.

If you have an AutoZone, they have the FelPro kit that can be looked up on the computer. IIRC, it cost like $6.99.
