I've seen a lot of topics on rough idles in earlier models, but I haven't seen anything about 3rd generations.

I have a 1997 SHO that sounds like it's not firing on all cylinders at idle. It seems to clear up at higer RPMs. I had the same problem a year or 2 ago, and it took 3 trips (and a lot of money) for the ford dealer to fix it. The first trip they cleaned the fuel injectors, the second trip they changed the spark plugs (which was very expensive), and the third trip they changed the catalytic converter, which seemed to solve the problem.

Is there anything I can check, or should I take my chances at the dealer again?

Thanks for any help,

David

Could be a bad coil(s). I've had 3 now and other people are having trouble too. Last week the mechanic sprayed water on them as the car was running. That finally caused the car to throw a code and figure out which one was the problem. I got two coils from UAP for half the price the dealer wanted and they're the exact same coils. Even says Motorcraft right on them. It only took 3 business to get them too. Took longer at the dealer.
