I just purchased a 2010 Taurus sho.

Lil history here..

http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?p=1409749#post1409749

After purchasing it and getting some seat time I have found it does not like to go w.o.t. It kind of falls on its face and eventually accelerates. Afterwards you can smell the cats fairly strong.

It runs well at low throttle settings and actually accelerates well. Anything past maybe half throttle and it hesitates or falls on its face before reacting. With full throttle when it does finally accelerate it does so poorly. As in not as strong as part throttle.

Make sure you check the owner.ford.com site for any outstanding recalls/TSBs that may apply to your SHO.

  1. PCM calibration is one of the common service items that needs to be taken care of.
  2. Another is checking hose clamps underhood, especially for the turbo piping.
  3. If you have more than 30,000 miles on the car, I would definitely recommend new spark plugs, regardless of how the previous owner drove it. Checking the plugs is obviously a cheap way to get insight into the health of the engine.
  4. A couple of people have had valve cover gasket leaks into the plug wells causing issues.

Thanks for the replies. It's always nice to get the wisdom of those that have already been there and done that. :)

If there is a TSB how do I go about getting the dealer to take care of it?

Is this done at my cost since it is not a recall?

Thanks for the replies. I set up an appointment with the dealer on Monday to hopefully check and see if the TSB on the pcm reflash has been done.

Interestingly today when I was driving it it seem to have no issues at wot?! The only difference is it is about 25 or so degrees cooler out. I also have been driving somewhat aggressively to maybe clean things out. Feeding into the throttle as well vs punching it wide open.

But now I have noticed it being a little "jerky" as if it is missing while cruising at minimum throttle openings around 60 mph or so.

Any preference for spark plugs with this vehicle??

Get the updated motorcraft ones sp534. Gap them to .035 stock or .030 tuned. I ran mine with the 030 gap stock and it was fine. Got it tuned now that's why I got them gapped tighter. My ford dealership did mine and gapped them and it was 230$. You can get the plugs online a lot cheaper though. And either do it yourself or take it to a different shop.
