Just got back from the junkyard and had a HORRIBLE experience.

I saw a pretty solid looking Gen II at the yard. Went up to look at it, and realized it was a manual shift Gen II with the shifter still in it!!

Got to the car, looked under the hood, and saw that the motor had been pulled. Whoever the yard ape was that pulled the motor CUT both shifter rods off at about the firewall! I almost cried.

What can you say? These guys have no idea how valuable the part was that they destroyed with five minutes worth of torch work. Just thought I'd share the pain.

Speaking of bad experiences....

This may be questionable to some since this was an ATX.. but still...

1994 Moonlight Blue ATX in a yard, looked to be in excellent shape. Tranny sold, motor was on a pallate left out in the rain. The body was excellent, the seats looked good.. until...

I got there, saw it, mostly stripped by someone. The seats were left in the rain for days, otherwise in good shape except for the rain damage. Glass shattered, the entire roof CUT OUT for the moonroof. I bought the hood for $30. Excellent condition hood for $30.

I asked the guy what was wrong with the car... "Oh, well it was an impound or something. They bring em here and they cannot be sold, have to be parted out.." I couldn't believe it. Made me sick.

Since the leather was so damaged from the rain, I tried cutting into it to see if I could locate the part to fix the lumbar in the '94. I wasn't going to find it in the rain, but I felt like vomiting after that. I pulled the hood with my brother and left.

Junkyards are not for the weak of heart (or stomach)!

I've seen some truly classic cars (sorry, but while I like the SHO I don't consider it 'classic' like a GTO, etc.) rotting away that upon closer inspection look like they could have been easily salvaged/restored before people got to tearing them apart piece-by-piece and left victim of the elements...

There wa s an old junk yard that I use to go to for old Caddy parts. He had stuff all the way back to the '30 in there just rotting away. He had several nice cars from the '50s and more than one 4 door Lincoln Contentintal convertable with no visable body damage. So sad.... cry

My last junkyard trip left my blood boiling. There was a gorgeous blue 93 ATX with a spoiler sitting in the yard. Since the 93 and 92 blue is the same shade blue, I wanted the spoiler for my 92. As I go to open the trunk to begin removing the spoiler, I realize some idiot tried to pull the spoiler off the trunk and the plastic mounting bracekts were cracked. WTF is wrong with these people cuss
