Did the rod bearings for the first time at 300k. Got the bearings from SHOSource. Thanks to writeups from SDPatt, SHOPhoenix, and the kurtmetro site. Bearings on cylinders 2 and 5 were the worst. The crank journals looked OK but I didn't spend much time worrying about them. No plastigage. I dry-fitted the pan about 5 times first. Glad to have a smooth runner back.

Just curious about the car history. How often did you change oil, what brand and weight, did you drive the SHO like it is suppose to be driven or were you gentle? How many of those 300,000 did you put on?

I put the last 265k on it. 10/40 basic Valvoline and Motorcraft filter. Oil changes around 4k. The first 100k I put on it were hard - I'm easier on it now.

After the rod bearings it's noticeably better, but still a little rough. I was surprised that the crank journal for 5 didn't look worse than the rest. I didn't plastigage. Also has crank cancer, held together with Loctite 660. I'm going to run it as long as I can and do a 3.2 swap when it's done.
