Well, I drove to Florida Saturday morning to attend my Dad's wedding. He lives just north of Gainesville and I had forgotten about the time change from central to eastern and really had to fly. Once I got onto I-75 south, I set the cruise at 80mph and owned the left lane for about 100 miles. I mean I didn't have to slow up at all and was passed only one time during that leg of the trip. It was really something that this old car of mine was just as comfy as ever, and despite really worn tires and some front end issues, the car did really well, so well in fact, that after the wedding and reception was over, (around 10:30pm eastern time), I decided to drive back home. So if anyone was on I-75 Saturday early afternoon and saw a black SHO flying in the left lane headed south, it was me. These cars were definetly designed for long road trips.

I know that road well, my wife hates going over those "Dolly Parton" bridges, just outside of Mobile.

We have what is in effect one here on Vancouver Island on the Island Highway from about Parksville north, and totally one north of Courtney. Pretty much drive as fast as you want. Mainly straight and low incline rates, no real police speed enforcement, good condition, divided 4 lane. You can go -very- fast. Did a trip up that way just a bit ago and yes, the Gen III is a really fine machine for long distances at high speeds.

I'm a bit far from you guys. I could take Merrit pky in Connecticut but it is not straight and still would have to dip from cops or end up paying about $300-350 for speeding ticket. In NY cops rather crash and die, before let me get away with any speed and then if you get caught speeding that's a very fun process for the whole state: everyone wants to fine you and make you suffer. For example: on Long Island I-495 is so wide and straight, that you can easily do 120, but you don't want to be pulled over for speeding there, because you can get tickets for everything else besides speeding, and you'll find out about that after cop leaves.

^^yeah, on top of the fine for speeding, you have the sure charge by the local court PLUS $100 for every fine you get....it adds up.
