Hi all,
I know noises r a shot in the dark to discribe, but here goes. My '94 mtx has developed a rattle/clicking sound from the drivers side during right turns under acceleration.
Weird thing is it ONLY happens when accelerating anywhere from half to full throttle while turning right....no other combination will make it happen. Cornering speed doesnt have any effect. Neutral or in gear has no effect. This makes me think that it isnt suspension related (plus 95% of my suspension/bushings are new). Also, the rattle/clicking is not a constant frequency and is not related to rpm in any way. Could this be an issue with a wheel bearing or an axle (trans? Man I hope not). Here are some facts about the car. Strut rod caps welded, new poly strut rod bushings, new swaybar endlinks, new swaybar bushings, SFC, ALSFB, koni's/Intrax, Wavetrac.
Funny thing it I didnt notice it until after I put on my new exhaust....but I dont see how the 2 could be related. Any ideas? It there a way to check the wheel bearing and axle? Im kinda lost on this one. Thanks

Jeremy

sounds like a CV joint to me. If you want to do a basic check on the wheel bearing - jack up the driver side front and place one hand on each side of the tire and push and pull to check for play. But my guess would be if you get up under the car and check the cv boots for splits and grease leaks - you'll find it. That would me you need a new cv joint.

Thanks. When I checked it out I didnt see any cracks/splits ect, but I have pulled the axle out of the trans and hub a few times over the past couple years (most recently a few months ago). I tried to be careful, but its possible I tweaked it during removal/intallation. Plus as far as I know it is original to the car.

Not the cv joint. replaced it and have the exact same sound. Im gonna check all the exhaust fastners and my koni inserts. Any other ideas? I hate chasing down noises. I know its drivers side (I can feel it in the floor board). It does happen rarely over very uneven pavement.

Fixed. Exhaust hanger would hit the SFC when turning and accelerating.
