98 3.4 yes its welded. Lol. Of course. Just recently replaced all coils and plugs. And the intake was a piece of cake for a first timer. Lol. But what I'm getting now is a P0172 bank 1 too rich code. Before I replaced the coils I had a miss on both banks and was getting p0172 and p0175 both banks running rich. So out with the old and in with the new. Now just bank 1 is too rich. Threw a new MAF sensor just to rule it out because I love spending money on stuff. Lol. I'm stumped. Anyone???????

Apparently everyone else is stumped too!
My next guess would be O2 sensors.

I have my original MAF and it is still kicking, but I'm sure if I replaced it (which I should have when replacing O2 sensors a couple years ago) my fuel economy might take a slight uptick. Very slight. Oh yeah, my Alanisdeals coils are still going as well.

Actually, O2 sensors would be my first guess. Sorry, I missed seeing this and was gone almost all of September and have been doing catch up.

I am still on the original MAF too, I just clean it every now and then. Carefully.

Well......I'm going to give changing the sensors a try would you recommend the NTK sensors or the Bosch not sure but I think with the new y pipe I put Bosch in it. Could the sensors be dirty from the coils causing a servere miss like they were. I know for a fact it's running rich due to black all over the exhaust tips and the real rich smell. I'm not the type of guy to take any of my vehicles to the shop for anything. I have been pulling wrenches since I was 7 so I am a very well experienced in these types of things however this issue has me scratching my head. Seriously.

The plugs were dry though when you pulled them last? Making sure the injectors are not leaking.

They were wet before I changed the coil packs. Since then I haven't checked them per say. As for a fuel rail leak down test it passes. It holds pressure. I did notice today though with it being a lil damp out it usually starts up right away it took awhile and then stalled right afterwards then started it back up again and it was fine. I have noticed a good amount of power loss as well since these rich codes have been showing up. I'd like to fix this issue asap so I don't fry my new y pipe. Which it is quite costly for those tho vs.

I have the Bosch, but have not heard anything negative about the NTK ones. I replaced them all a few years ago from the ones that came with the car when I also put in a new Y pipe. Your problem continues to sound to me like the computer getting bad data from the O2 sensors and then messing up the fuel supply as a result, but I am not an expert in this, so could easily be wrong.

Well, what a pain in the #** this was to diagnose. Well, it was the fuel ressure regulator that was leaking into the surge tank. Took the tank off to check the misfire on Coil#1 and heard gas sloshing around in the tank and I said hmmmm, I dont think thats supposed to be in there. So while running the ar pulled vaccum line off the regulator bam there it is. A few drops were coming out of the vaccum port on the regulator. Bought a new Motorcraft Reg no more problems other than the P0411 Secondary air pump issue but am just going to change the whole pump with new relay. :):woo-hoo:
Thanks for the help to all.
