Hi everyone. My problem is this: When I really lay down on it, my ATX isn't wanting to shift until over 7.5k, and possibly even higher. I don't know exactly how high, as my tach only works when it feels like it, but it definitely sounds like it is reving to 7.5k+, and far beyond it's powerband. Why is this? I've read quite a bit, but found nothing leaning this way. I'm stumped!

When your tach does work, check to see if you hear the secondaries at 3950 rpm. Maybe your tach just reads high, I have seen it before. Also your rev limiter should come on at 7300 rpm.

pull your engine codes. you could be having coil pack issues or the CID sensor is going regarding your tach.

ohfosho: I pulled the codes about a month ago, and I only got the O/D code (button doesn't work, I hope!) and the EGR valve code.

Ishodu: Yes, I can feel the secondaries open, there's no missing it! What I meant by the tach only working sometimes is that it pretty much just moves around alot until I maintain speed, but there is never any solid reliable indication of engine speed. I have read about how the rev limiter is supposed to hit, but I have not felt it, as the tranny isn't shifting fast enough or soon enough, so the engine is reving to where it almost sounds dangerous, with no indication of a rev limiter ala when I rev it in neutral/park. All it does is keep on reving way, way out of it's powerband, but no sensation of the limiter kicking in.

Seeing as the OD button doesn't work and the tach is intermittent I say you have an electrical mess.
