I've been looking for some brighter back-up lights and think going with an LED bulb would be my best bet. I've found a few, but I'm trying to sort out the junk. Amazon has these https://www.amazon.com/Gezan-Backup...=UTF8&qid=1466880206&sr=8-4&keywords=cree+921 for $17 which isn't bad. This is an Amazon registered brand and is rated at 600 lumens
I also found these on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Whit...automotive&vehicleId=3&vehicleType=automotive for $23. These are made by Philips, the Vision LED series automotive application. I couldn't find a lumen rating on these. One review was on a 2013 Fusion and was 5 star. I tend to lean towards this bulb since Philips is a recognizable brand name and its claimed quality.
Any comments or experience with LED back up lights?

I would lean towards the Philips also, very high quality product. If you want go with another brand, Dynamic Diodes (go to their website) or JDM brands are pretty good. vLEDs should also work well. The one thing you will have to check is actual physical size. I found the Philips a bit too big for the Fusion application, so I had to return them (fell off inside the taillight, had a bit of fun extracting). Went with a "*********" product from EBay.

The backup lights rating for Philips is around 500 (each, both?) I believe, you have to go to their site and dig around.

I got the LEDs today. I never paid attention to the tail lights, but when I looked at them to put the LED bulbs in, I thought there were four bulbs. There are only two, the top white one is just a reflector I guess. Anyways, I put one side in for a comparison. It's still daylight so I can't say whether they're brighter, but they are most definitely whiter. I had to take the picture at an angle to avoid getting a reflection on the right side so it's not doing the LED side justice. I think they may be a little brighter. I also think they'll probably work better with the camera being that much whiter. I'll do another post after it gets dark in a couple hours.

Well, it's dark out now and I checked them out. Not as bright as I had hoped, but a little brighter. Could be it just seems that way because they are so white. If they were more expensive, I would say it wasn't worth the change.

Contact Dan at DriveBright.com see if he has a product that will work for you. Need something that spreads light 360 degrees, I think, T10 or T15 base. 7.5W at least.

Look for Samsung LED equipped units if you have to go offbrand, such as this one:

Thanks SHOdded! The ones from VLED appear to be what I'm looking for. Very good reviews on them also. I got those bookmarked, but I'm going to give the Philips ones a chance and see how I like them. I just tried them once so far sitting in my driveway and haven't actually backed up with them yet. Thanks again!

OK, so I just installed the VLEDs last night. Holy moly, what a difference! I never knew the factory reverse bulbs were so sh1ty, dull, yellow, etc! These pics don't do it justice because the stock bulb is causing a glare in the pic making it appear brighter, the VLEDs are also glaring, but in person there's a 1000% difference! The VLEDs are awesome - perfect clean white bright light but not annoying bright. When I had the car in the garage with the garage lights on the stock bulb is hard to see, but the VLEDs were great!

I can upload some more pics during during daylight if anyone needs but here's 2 pics taken at Dusk...

I might have to try these out.

Especially given I'm rocking the limo tint all the way around. Might make reversing into my garage a little easier.

Link to product/item #? TIA

May have to check the part number for your lights, Mike. If I recall, at least some of the 2010s had a rather rare bulb type, shared with Camaros (!).

It is different - good catch! 2010 uses a 7440 bulb. So here's the correct link for Mikey...

OK.... SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! This bulb is a 1,000 Lumen bulb and mine is only 500! Mike will get an even bright bulb than mine! Don't worry, it won't be too bright, like I said mine at 500 is real bright but not annoying. I think 1,000 would be perfect! Lucky you!
