Quick Update

Heh, I've been having too much fun driving the car to come back and update the thread.

Got the car back from Tony late last year, and had Bob Haynes Custom Coachworks install the SFC's, custom exhaust and roll the rear fenders.

Also got it registered in Texas, and waiting for my new custom plates. Started playing with the Tweecer, but it runs rough with it plugged in even on a stock tune (may just need cleaning).

I'd like to install the 80mm MAF, but it was not a direct bolt-on like I thought it would be. Do you have to ditch the stock airbox and run a cone filter? I'd rather not have a hot-air intake:

Right after getting it back from Tony (still with slicers on back):

You can see my commuter here too. :)

And after Bob Haynes worked their magic:

I'm going to take it back to Bob Haynes to get the exhaust tips trimmed up to be flush with the bumper. He said they'd have to cut some structure out of the bumper, but I'm not too worried about it.

Also, I'm thinking about painting/powdercoating the spokes of my big rims flat/satin black.

Still a bunch of little things to do, but the car runs strong, it sounds great (I should shoot some video) but it's begging for boost. :woo-hoo:

I decided to purge all the old gas out of the tank. I couldn't get the syphon to work, so I disconnected the fuel filter, and daisy chained some extra fuel hose up into a gas can in the rear passenger foot-well. Then I painstakingly primed the fuel system a couple million times to empty the tank into cans. It was faster than learning how to hot-wire the fuel pump to stay on. I set a Maglite on the can to monitor the level in each can:

The gas fumes were getting a bit intense, so I grabbed a mask. This is me after a solid week of wrenching on my SHO:

To "hot wire" the fuel pump is very simple. ON the data link connector under the hood you place a ground wire from the bottom left terminal to a ground source. I use a paper clip and wrap it around the strut tower bolt. Then turn on your ignition key. :)

Whew! So, next on the agenda is to open up the valve covers and see if there's valvetrain damage, and drain the oil to see if there's metal flakes. Hopefully it's something only requiring rebuilding the heads.[/QUOTE]

Looks good. Do you have any straight on pics of the rear?
Took this really crappy one on the way out of the hardware store last night:

I'll try taking another today, you know, without the sun in the background.

Here's a quick video. Again, not the best, but my buddy in the car was slow on the record button:

I love how raw it sounds with all the insulation removed.

Definitely cool. Not the kind of look I would have on a stock SHO, but yours is in no way stock.
And the front grill is also very cool. Nice work!

Thanks, guys. I'm going to have Bob Haynes CC whip up a final version of the grill in fiberglass with no badge spot, just a clean panel with a wide slot.

Come to think of it, there's hardly anything stock left on this car. Maybe the subframe and body? Mmmm, a Gen III subframe sounds yummy though . . .

Remove carpet
find thick, pink wires leading to pump
direct wire
????
PROFIT!

that's how I had it on my little console secured to the firewall; a push-on push-off switch to turn that bad boy on once I decapitated the wiring cluster when I ripped out the dash for good

Thanks, but I do not need to hot wire the fuel pump any longer. It was just to get all the old gas out before firing up the rebuilt motor. It runs on the regular stock circuit just fine.

This week I will take it back to Bob Haynes and have them finish up the rear exhaust, and I'll see if they can install my remote starter, and wire my oil pressure gauge.

I'm happy to see you've got your project running and bumping, great work!!

On a side note, next time you ever have to purge the tank it's not hard at hard, I have a cool pic of how I got my good gas out of my ATX when I parked it, somewhere...
