Nick and I ran down to St. Augustine Weds evening and scouted out a few places.
We chose the Milltop Tavern to eat at after the dyno. It is about a 5 minute drive from the dyno facility and in the heart of historic St. Augustine. Go to www.milltoptavern.com , it's a very unique restaurant in a very old place and has an artesian well-powered water wheel on the outside. If the weather is nice you can dine outside or up top with the windows wide open. It's a very laid back setting and has your basic menu of appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, and of course... beer, at very modest prices.
Parking is very limited near this area but the St. Augustine Visitors Center is only a block away and has a huge parking lot (they may charge a few bucks to park on weekends). We can park there and easily walk across the street to that area.
I don't know if any of you had plans to stay the night in town, but there is a Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, and I believe a Travelodge within a mile of the dyno facility on State Rd. 16. You are on your own as far as hotel.
As you all know this is the oldest city in the United States and there is PLENTY to do here if you decide to hang around for any length of time. St. George Street (which is where the Milltop Tavern is) is a full of shopping and other little touristy things. We'll also be right across the street from Ripley's, Castillo de San Marcos, and the Bridge of Lions. If you need more info on stuff to do, just let me know.
Now I'm gettin kinda worried because there are only 3 people that have confirmed they are coming with their deposit. Today was the deadline because I need to give the guys at FPN a definite head count. I really don't want to disappoint them!!! I will extend the deadline for deposits until Weds. the 19th, but ABSOLUTELY NO LATER!!! If you plan on coming but will not be dynoing your car, please RSVP by PMing me. I need to know how many to plan for so I'll know whether or not I need to call Milltop and reserve a decent area for us.
