My car bottomed out on a driveway and put a nice dent in the resonator. It is leaking at the seam now. I tried to slather it with jb weld high heat to seal it, but it didn't work.

I can't find a replacement resonator, I can only find the entire exhaust for $1500 from Ford. (DA5Z-5230-C)

I'm not looking to straight pipe it, i would like to keep it as stock as possible. Does anyone know of an aftermarket muffler or resonator that will fit in its place? I'm not sure if the pipe spacing is something that's standard or not.

Thanks for any help!

JB Fail wont hold anything. If the resonator is otherwise OK, maybe see if a local shop can weld it up.

It's leaking at the crimp due to the resonator being distorted. I hoped the jb weld would creep down in the crimp and fill it, but it did not. I can weld it up but it would be easier to just replace the entire resonator since it also makes a droning noise now.

Gotcha. If non-OEM is OK, here you go:

Thank you

The sho and na versions have the same exhaust? I thought mine was dual exhaust going to the back, but that was at the end of summer when I put that jb weld in.

SHO and NA are different. Currently there are several complete uncut used SHO exhaust systems on Facebook. All located in Michigan.

My bad, I quickly Googled and didn't realize that it didn't keep SHO as part of the search. I'm not having any luck finding a resonator for a SHO. A used one would probably be the best option at this point.

I will post this here - its cheaper and will be a good replacement instead of finding a stock resonator.

I asked Magnaflow - what part number in their SHO exhaust were they using for a resonator - now it wont sound stock and will give you a more beefy sound for sure.

"Thank you for submitting your question to us online. Case #00306079: "Can I get the part number to the stock resonator replaced by this system" has been created and a MagnaFlow Customer Advocate will respond to you shortly."
ANSWER:

Thank you for choosing Magnaflow!

We utilize part number 11386 in our complete system 15769. Let me know if I may further assist.

All good, I have had that happen to me, as well as wrong pictures, so I wasn't sure if the non sho had a single or dual (I had a limited but I don't remember how the exhaust was)

Thank you, did you actually buy this? Was it a 100% direct fit?

I would like to keep the car as quiet as possible since I leave at 4am to go to work and dont want angry neighbors. I live at the bottom of a hill so I can't drive slow until I get out of the neighborhood.

So I never bought it however plan to - can't say on stock muffler the exact sound - so sorry was an inexpensive option.
Also it was supposed to a cat back system so it would need to have a muffler shop weld it in

just tossing this out there, its not stock by any means but it worked well for me. I cut the cats out of my f150 (christmas money) and after i straight piped it the drone was unbearable, 3v tritons have a unique exhaust note and the vvt becomes a volume k-n-o-b for drone. still broke, i decided to add a glasspack in place of the cats to act as a resonator, and it worked surprisingly well. if your car is stock you should have 2 pre cats, and 1 dual in secondary cat, then the resonator, and then a muffler for each side. I'd image much of your drone is from the actual exhaust leak, replacing it with a pair of glasspacks would create a unique sound, its double wall with insulation so it should remedy the drone, you could get a couple of them for under $100, and since you still have all the emissions equipment plus the stock mufflers at the tips it should stay relatively quiet. just a thought, and now having come up with this solution I am considering doing it myself to my car lol.

I went down the rabbit hole and found this, Ive run Thrush/dynomax on a lot of things since highschool and never had a quality problem (maybe a few installation issues in my earlier years) it almost matches the dimensions of the magnaflow unit for half the cost, im considering this myself

Thrush 17637 Welded Muffler

This one is a little more expensive but still less than magnaflow and claims to be a little quieter

Thrush 17654 Turbo Muffler

I would verify inlet/outlet diameters before buying, those are results for a 2.5" in/out with a similar case length around 20" Overall

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the pipe spacing would be standard or some type of proprietary spacing that only ford uses and an off the shelf muffler/resonator wouldn't fit.

The exhaust system looks very easy to drop and weld a new piece in.

I think my drone is coming from something inside of the resonator, because it almost sounds "tinny"
