My water pump's shot and I started ripping into the old SHO. I can't get the crank bolt off! I tried the BUMP procedure with a breaker bar (shown in http://www.shophoenixproject.com/lower60k/lower60k.htm ) like 5 times, but the damn bolt won't budge.

We put PB blast on it tonight, and I'll try again tomorrow. Any other suggestions - what about heating up the bolt??

Thanks.

Try the bump start procedure one more time. It worked for me on a single try. I used 3/4 inch 5 point socket, with a power handle resting on the subframe facing the front bumper. As you crank the power handle will turn against the subframe, which won't budge, and break the bolt loose. Good luck!

 Use a deep 6 point impact socket. This has never failed me.

Try bump starting it and get someone to hold the socket / breaker bar onto the bolt. Thats what i had to do and i got it on the third try with mine. Lol when you pull that harmonic balancer make sure ur puller doesnt mar up the inside threads in the crankshaft like mine... now i gotta find a place that sells 14 x 1.5 taps doh.....

prob the brakes, grab a breaker bar and a pipe...put the pipe over the end of the breaker bar. 3 feet worth of leverage will make it seem easy.

Thanks, we tried again this morning after using the PB blast and the breaker on the subframe - finally off!
