Hey all,

I am having problems with emissions on my car (see "my car did not pass emissions test:Help!" post) and I would like to know if it is possible to replace just the cat convertors, or if i have to get a whole new y-pipe?

Maybe this would be a good time to get a perfformance plus or a SHO shop hi flow one (with cats, of course).

I will look into the pricing... What about getting a custom y-pipe? The issue here is that I live in canada, and getting a y-pipe from the states is mega $$ for me up here. $500 US= about $900 CDN. Would it be possible to get a custom one fabricated or is the SHO y-pipe pretty hard to duplicate well.

You can also get the old cats cut out and weld in new ones. Most exhaust shops like to make $$$ from selling new exhaust systems but any part of this system can be 'cut and spliced' if necessary.

Prophet, What is that catco y-pipe like? is it as good as the sho shop one, or at least decent?

Luigisho- I will look into that. I may get one bent up and made into a more free flowing one like the others.

The Catco has good bends ,it will resolve the problem bend in the stock y-pipe,its the same tickness as your stock y except with good flow and high flow cats. The shoshops is a little ticker.
I think for the price youll love it.

If you can afford it buy a performance plus or shoshop Y with cats. It would probably cost you just as much to have one made unless you are buddies with someone at an exhaust shop. Another option is to look for used stock one that is in good shape. It wouldn't cost as much, and at least you'd know if that is the problem.

Just checked with Summit, the Catco part #4525 for the 93-95 rod shifted SHO is $319 US. NOt bad for the price with new high flow cats,
Does anyone have anything tho say about that y-pipe? I am interested in a new one, how does it rate with the PP, and SS. Thanx Craig
