Hey guys, long time no post, but anyway...

I'm pulling the speedo cable due to it's recent lack of ability to drive the speedometer (I'm assuming it broke). I've got the whole interior bit done, so the speedo is hanging there from the cable, but I have no clue where to find the cable under the hood. Can someone post pics or explicit instructions for identifying the speedo cable on a Gen I?

Thanks all :)

Whoops, forgot to mention, I've searched and found several helpful threads about the interior work, but nothing very explicit about the engine bay side of things. I suppose it is simple enough that no one thought to bring it up, leave it to me to not be able to locate the darn thing!

Update, still haven't found it. And this was supposed to be one of the easy jobs...

It will come out of the firewall, on the passenger side of the master cylinder, and, for your year I believe, will be a light greyish color. It comes out about 6 inches, then shoots down toward the transmission where it connects to the lower speedo cable. There is a white plastic fitting in which the cable join together at, and are held in place by a circlip of some kind.

If you still cannot find the cable, either post or PM me your email address and I can send you a picture.

The cable is replacable with out removing any interior parts. I can now swap a cable within 5 minutes if it doesn't fight back, which makes for 10 minutes! You can't have big ol' hands though! :)

Edit: If you were to pull the upper cable from the lower, you could've actually gave the cable a twist while having someone look at the speedometer. If you spin it and the needle jumps, that eliminates the upper cable. Most times, the upper cable is the one that breaks/shreads/binds up. This would've took about 1 minute if you can pull the clip pretty quick, or better yet, move it in a certain postition to pull out the cable.
