Replacing passenger rear door...

Okay, so I'm getting close to buying myself a Gen-II SHO. The passenger rear-door has some damage to it, a truck backed into it. So, if I were to find a rear-door off a regular Taurus, would I be able to replace it, or do I need a SHO specific door?
Also, how difficult is it to strip the guts out of the door? I figured, if I got a new door, I'd strip everything, get the new door repainted and have my new door on.
Would I just be able to find a door off a Taurus with powerwindows, get the door repainted and then put the SHO interior onto the door? I assume it wouldn't be TOO difficult to replace a door.
Whats involved with it anyway? Do I just ratchet the door hinges, unplug the harness and ta-da?

Oh man, I fought with my mustangs #*@&#I%##@ door one day putting new pins in, shiiiit, I hate that damn door! BUt what I did learn the hard way is that you want to put the bottom pin in first, that is the one closest to the stupid lil door keep open bushing, I fought with that damn bushing for ever, it kinda won, lil baastard! anyway, you drop the pin in, drop it down so the bottom lines up, BTW have someone help, be careful when you go to hit it in with the hammer, you will mess your door jam up, and put the codder pin in after door is in place, after that do the top, HELLA easier!!! I could not find anything on this when I did it. I haven't replaced the sho's, hope I don't need to anytime this millinia, so, find which ever pin/hinge is closest to the door keep open bushing, and attack that one first. Hope that helps!

No need to remove the pins unless they are worn out. Just unplug the wiring (there is a set of connectors just inside the "B" pillar), unbolt it and your out of there. Try to stick with the same gen of Taurus as the interior door handle location is different between gens (it is changeable though). The only problem I can foresee is if the SHO you are buying is a 94-95 you will have to do something about the chrome trim on the upper edge of the door. You would have to swap it over to make it look right.

I didnt know about the connectors...since I will be changing out my rear door soon hopefully, this has been most helpful.

just be sure to take off the side skirts when transfering from the SLO the SHO door

wow, this thread sounded so familiar. A couple weeks after i got my 95 a truck backed into the the rear drivers side door, just enough to impact the beam behind it and screw the window up too.

My neighbor who owned a body shop got a used sho door, at least i'm assuming, the window trim is black but it doesnt quite match up to the original trim on the car, it has kind of a different surface grain, other then that, he just took my bottom trim and door panel and the paint looks perfect.

Got a nice discount too. Even though having to pay for damages done by someone else is never cool
